The “Once Upon a Time” Version:
Raised on a tropical island in the eastern hemisphere, USA Today bestselling author Jan Thompson now lives and writes in the western hemisphere. Her international background gives Jan a unique multicultural and multiracial perspective to her novels and books.
A transplanted resident of the southern USA for over thirty years, Jan loves all things Georgian, from its landlocked piedmont metropolis to its ocean-flanked coastal islands, and all the little towns in between.
After graduating from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Jan Thompson worked in the Information Technology industry for a number of years, first as database programmer, then as a website developer and IT consultant.
When she became a mother, Jan transitioned from programming to home education, focusing on homeschooling her child. In high school, her son attended a college preparatory academy, thus freeing up more time for Jan to write her books. Within four years, she was able to publish 16 books that had taken her almost 20 years to write.
Now that her son is in college (university), Jan is transitioning again, from once writing part-time after school hours to now writing full-time, affirming her calling to be an author, and reviving a lifelong interest in creative writing, something she has been doing since she was eight years old, composing a letter on an Olivetti typewriter.
Jan writes multiracial and multiethnic Christian fiction that celebrates the grace and mercy of God with hope and love in Jesus Christ. From wholesome Christian romance with flavors of women’s fiction to clean Christian romantic suspense and inspirational international thrillers, Jan’s books are for readers who enjoy stories of faith, family, and friends.
From time to time, Jan also writes regional historical fiction and non-fiction devotionals. Regardless of the genre, Jan’s books celebrate the grace of God and hope in Jesus Christ. Faith, hope, and love always.
When she is not busy writing and publishing, Jan is a wife, mother, family scribe, avid reader, erstwhile sewing student and piano player, occasional artist, and chief of staff to the family cat.
Jan’s life verse is John 3:16.
The “First Person” Version:
I’m a Christian, wife, mother, author, and chief of staff to the family cat. Having lived in both the eastern and western hemispheres, I find it easy to write about multiethnic characters in my books. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and worked in that field for over a decade before I transitioned to motherhood, homeschool, and the pursuit of my dream job as a novelist. My husband and I are empty nesters now, with our son off to college.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
