“Bless the Lord, O My Soul”

December 31, 2019 By Jan Thompson

Psalm 103:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Reflections of Thankfulness!

December 27, 2019 By Jan Thompson

What are you thankful for this year?

From a writerly viewpoint, I am thanking God that I am alive. My cardiologist told me a couple of months ago that I have heart problems (family history is part of the reason). I have so many books left to write and I wonder now if I will have enough time the rest of my life to write them all! But the WIN for me this year is that I am now actively dealing with my health again – getting back to proper nutrition, lose weight, and exercise. This will only make me more productive as an author, and I hope to be able to finish all the series I started 4-5 years ago. I should be able to start writing my 22nd book soon.

Due to all the extra health issues I had to deal with the last 2 months, I did not meet my writing deadline this month (December), and now I am late in my overall schedule (editorial, not publishing). So that is a LOSS for me this because I am supposed to be writing the next book RIGHT NOW and yet I am finishing up what should have been done and out the door in October. Still, thank God for the breath of life. Timing is in His hands, and perhaps for such a time as this, He has an important lesson I must learn.

In Christ,
Jan Thompson

Happy After Christmas Weekend!

December 26, 2019 By Jan Thompson

It seems that the last last two months of the year have flown by quickly. Maybe part of the reason is that Thanksgiving fell on the last Thursday of the month, and immediately it was December the following week. Next thing you know, Christmas is here, falling on the last week of December, and suddenly, we’re at the end of the year again.

This is why I tend to not schedule any writing or publishing for November and December. These are my two months off for family and health. These two months are also my “buffer months” where I try to catch up on unfinished business. And boy, this year, there is this one book that is not out the door yet. So happy Christmas weekend to you, but to me, it’s another “scrambling to find time to write” weekend with family in town.

Looking back, it’s a great idea to have buffer months so I don’t feel rushed about my book deadlines.

Have a happy Christmas weekend, everyone!
